Tyson Slocum

Tyson Slocum is the Director of the Public Citizen Energy Program. Slocum joins us to speak about the record-breaking $11.68 billion second quarter profits of the ExxonMobil corporation. Our topics will also cover off-shore drilling and whether it will help American tax-payers and consumers.

Slocum joined the Public Citizen Energy Program in 2000 where he promotes stronger regulation of energy markets, examines the impact of mergers and lax regulations over electricity, petroleum and natural gas, and monitors federal energy legislation. Tyson also researches the influence of corporate special interests on our political system and works to promote corporate and government accountability. He is the author of numerous reports on these subjects, presenting his findings in testimony before the U.S. Congress. He appears regularly in radio, print, and television media. Prior to Public Citizen, Tyson was a policy analyst at Citizens for Tax Justice. He received his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and grew up in Rhode Island.

Harvey Wasserman

Harvey Wasserman is Free Press Senior Editor and “Superpower of Peace” columnist, and senior advisor to Greenpeace USA and the Nuclear Information and Resource Service. He is author or co-author of a dozen books, including Solartopia! Our Green-Powered Earth, A.D. 2030 and Harvey Wasserman’s History Of The United States. Wasserman joins us to discuss his vision for a green-powered earth, and a range of energy issues.

Wasserman’s journalistic writings and columns have appeared in major newspapers and magazines worldwide since 1967. He is also a co-host for Radio FreePress.Org, and has appeared on Lou Dobbs, Democracy Now! and other major US media.
